How to get Control Panel in WinX menu in windows 10,8.1,7.

😱 Windows 10 Creators Update – Where Did My Control Panel Go? 😅

If you’ve installed the Windows 10 Creators Update on your computer, you may have noticed something strange happening to your old favorites. 🤔 The Control Panel and Command Prompt shortcuts that you probably clicked on daily seem to have vanished from the WinX menu (you know, that cool menu that pops up when you press Win + X). 🚶‍♂️💨

Now, you might see shortcuts for the Settings app and PowerShell instead. Microsoft clearly wants everyone to make the switch, but not everyone is on board with this change. 😬 Some of us just want the good ol’ Control Panel back. Can you blame us? 😆

🖥️ What’s Up with the Control Panel Anyway?

For those who’ve been living under a rock (or, okay, maybe you’re just new to Windows), the Control Panel has been around for ages. It's like the Swiss Army knife for managing your computer settings. 🔧 It lets you:

  • Add or remove hardware and software 🖨️💻
  • Tinker with user account settings 👤
  • Adjust accessibility options 👀
  • Dive into networking settings 🌐

And that's just the tip of the iceberg! There are plenty of other applets (those little mini-programs within Control Panel) that do everything from managing sound and video drivers to configuring input devices and VPNs. 🖱️🎧

🔄 Goodbye Control Panel, Hello Settings!

So, what’s the deal? Well, Microsoft has been pushing us toward the Settings app since Windows 8, which was designed with a touchscreen-friendly, Metro-style interface (remember those colorful tiles? 😅). Now, in Windows 10, the Control Panel is becoming deprecated—that’s just a fancy word for “it’s on its way out” 😜—and the Settings app is now the star of the show.

Some of the features that used to live in Control Panel, like adding/removing user accounts, have already been moved exclusively to the Settings app. So if you’re looking for those options, you’ll need to head to Settings rather than the old Control Panel. 🛠️

🧐 But Wait, How Do I Get the Old Stuff Back?

For those who miss the old Control Panel shortcuts and want to bring them back, it’s still possible to get them with a little tweaking. If you're feeling nostalgic, you can even access some of the old Control Panel applets manually through the Command Prompt or Run dialog (by typing commands like Control.exe followed by the specific applet you want to open). It’s like calling up your computer’s secret service. 🕵️‍♂️

For example:

  • Want to open Internet Options? Try typing control.exe inetcpl.cpl.
  • Looking for User Accounts? Use control.exe /name Microsoft.UserAccounts.

So yeah, while Microsoft is gently nudging us away from the Control Panel, there are still plenty of ways to summon it if you’re missing it. 🧙‍♂️✨

So if you are one of them, Just follow the steps mentioned below :-

For CONTROL PANEL

The entries that control the WinX menu are found at %LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft\Windows\WinX and are subdivided into folders with names of GroupX So at first, sign in as administrator and create a desktop shortcut to open the Control Panel. So right-click on the desktop > New > Shortcut.

In the location field, type the following path:
%windir%\system32\control.exe

Click Next and name this shortcut as Control Panel and click Finish.

Your shortcut of Control Panel will be crated in desktop.

Now, open Windows File Explorer and copy-paste the following path in the Explorer address bar and hit Enter:
%LocalAppData%\Microsoft\Windows\WinX

Go to that location and You'll see groups like these:
Now drag and drop the created Control Panel shortcut from your desktop into any one of these folders, depending on where you want Control Panel link displayed.
However, I recommend Group 2.
And this looks something like this:

It worked for me and I hope this works for you too.😄 Good Luck 👍
